Anything you give 5 stars to has my attention, Ann. Superb review! I do love a good HF story that is different from this time period.
This sounds wonderful, thanks for the warning that it is long and needs one's full attention. The timing isn't right for me right now, but I'll keep it in mind for 2026.

Jen - as the reader you get so into the main character's very confused brain. I love that kind of stuff! And the post WWI setting is really good.

Diane - it definitely took me a long time to read, but for me it was so worth it. My rather literal mind kept trying to figure out if his memories were real (and how much was real) or just made up as a result of PTSD. It was beautiful! (long but beautiful!)
Oh, Melanie it was just amazing. I think it’s a book better”felt” than realistically analyzed BUT I would love your thoughts on two literal concepts. One - do you think Julienne was his wife? (I think yes but love that I am uncertain). Two - was Kathe real or imagined? I go both ways on that one! What kind of super powerful writing does it take that I am even asking these questions?!!!
