One interesting tidbit that is important to note when reading novelizations... They have to be based off of the screenplay, not the film itself. This is required as the rights to the screenplay are often licensable but the rights to the film are not. So, some of those changes you noted are likely changed between the screenplay and the movie (as they can vary wildly between the two). I think that distinction is extremely important as a fellow author who writes novelizations too as Christian likely did not have control over omitting/changing certain scenes.
