I think he was just a pedophile. I think the land dispute had nothing to do with what he did. Also, a lot of psycho serial killers are considered "pillars of the community". When the crimes are discovered many people find it unbelievable. BTK was the I think treasurer or some thing at his church. Ed Kemper called the cops and confessed his crimes and at first they didn't believe him because he was friends and hung out with them. Golden State killer was a cop, nobody suspected him.
ok, you're a fan of true-crime drama & we get it... but if everything is just random in a book, you don't really have a plot that holds up. (also, if Randy's a pedophile, he wouldn't keep abusing Becky into her 30's.)
