I understand.. the gimmick is fun once or twice a year, but would get really old quickly after two or three in a row. This is why I love this forum. The Maze main is like Andy insofar as being dry and sarcastic however I think he is around Andy's age and is written like a 15-year-old boy. 150 pages in and I will finish it, only because its a NetGalley.
I enjoyed Andy and the Yelpers, my second in the series of 26. Has anyone read them all? I'm thinking my 2025 -- 2026 TBR is realistic. (Setting up my 2023 NY resolution). I digress ... I'm reading The Maze, not enjoying this.
Such Big Dreams is likely to be my 2022 favorite book. I look for a book that can be unapologetically gifted. This has been it for me. I want everyone to love it.
Thanks Kristie. I feel like the worst that can happen is they lose me as a reviewer. Before I send a NG back, I reread the synopsis making sure I didn't miss a automatic no or DNF from me, and it did happen once.
Thereadingbell...I hope you are well and building up your resistance. Best wishes on your reading goals. The reminder app sounds interesting, I write mine out every Monday and Thursday. Goodreads is about as technical as I get. KarenK2...I noticed the request vs review up and down. I have sent several back several as will not review, and that didn't glaringly change anything.
Thank you Kristie. I agree Tasha. I don't buy new releases. I buy used and mostly clearance. NetGalley ARCs have been fun for me. I feel better. I was worried. I donate physical books, and set Oct and Nov for a Dec donation. This year they need more. It is better to give than receive, and sometimes you can give and take. Happy Reading Ladies.
Kristie ... I try to fit them in. I realized the Archive due date wasn't working for me. Just recently I've two that don't have archive dates, firsts for me. That's why I was asking does NetGalley ever say anything about late books? I'm trying to zero out my shelf. I love reading ARCs, but don't want to get a bad rep.
Thereadingbell Best Wishes. You did some reading. My goal is to zero out my NG shelf by Oct 1st. I want to focus in Oct/Nov physical books to move out of my home respectfully, and donate for others to enjoy in Dec or picked up for gifts.
I had a good NetGalley July. I read 18 & 1 I would not give feedback on, DNF Wake of War (Excessive profanity). I use archive date as due date. Today ---

Hi Ladies ... I have been reading NG, and I stopped scrolling back here. I cannot add anymore books to any list (I really am trying.). Finished My Little Brother 3.5* The issue ... I know I've read this before. Know as I can't document it. I searched briefly for a title change to no avail. The entire book was familiar. Next: I put Woman of Light back on my shelf (pub in Sept). Four chapters, 30ish pages and sadly I'm not connecting. Have you read it?
And, me with currently 37 NG books am batting zero.
I started The Colony and like WofL I'm wondering what am I reading. I am old enough to remember the IRA, however thus far that is a line or two (30% or so). It's strange and the writing style is different.
So, of course I was determined to save the last couple of days. I like to do jigsaw puzzles while I listen. Next one I was choosing by cover, not publication date. More After the Break looked safe -- a listen, chuckle, eye roll, while I puzzle book. It is crudely written and the audio comes off as entitled not sincere. (30% or so).
Bottomline -- I'm not starting another, going to try my hardest not to procrastinate and finish these.
How is your reading?
Kristie & Lilisa ..I'm with you two, I can't pass on what could be a masterpiece. I have 31 NGs right now, and I just picked up five from a Canadian Publisher. I like here on Goodreads when a book is offered. I'm starting to get a list. Never a boring moment.
