I know it's been a while (literally a year since this book came out and I read it) but I've been busy, as I am sure so many of you have been. BUT, can we please talk about that ending. I won't spoil anything in case some of you haven't read this book yet, but... wow. I think that's all I have to say to describe my feelings. I hate that more often now, I can predict a plot twist or how a book ends. This book, however, is the first in a long time to completely surprise me. I was on the edge of my seat, needing to know what was happening and what would happen because I had no clue. Stephanie Garber absolutely broke my heart, which I think means she nailed that ending! Probably one of the best endings I have ever read, even as it killed me.

What really made me go "what the heck" was when Evangeline talked about feeling Jacks' heartbeat and acted like that was normal! I had to reread it like 5 times because I could not believe she did not realize anything weird about it. She just went about like Jacks was a human with a beating heart, not a Fate who is supposed to have no heart. I want to say his heart started beating because Evangeline is his one true love, but Tella was his one true love. Can he have two "one true loves"? I have a feeling we are going to learn about this in the next book, but right now, I can't help but be baffled.

I have to say I was nervous about reading Stephanie Garber's new book because I loved Caraval so much. However, I was not disappointed! I am so happy Stephanie took us back into the world I love with the character I love, Jacks. Jacks and his apples and his trickery are some things I will never get over. Every time I think he has changed; he really is the same and I love that about him. He always keeps me guessing.
Was it just me or did you get really excited when Scarlett and Tella entered the story as empress and princess? It was like seeing good friends after not seeing them for a long time. Even if they were only minor characters, I love that Stephanie gave us a glimpse of their lives after Finale. I always miss not learning anything new about my favorite characters after a book or series end, so this was such a nice bonus.
I have to say that I am looking forward to the next book and may have already preordered it. (I may not be upset about it, but wallet definitely is)

The preorder gift is a separate offer that the publisher gives out. On Instagram, the author usually posts about when it is offered and then you submit your preorder receipt. There is a limited number and they go by fast. For this book, the gift was an alternate dust jacket for the book.

I just received my preorder gift for the book and I have to say it’s gorgeous. This was the first time I had done a preorder gift and I was not disappointed. I love it! Were you able to snag one? Less than a week left for those counting down the days💔

So I preordered the regular book such a long time ago, not even thinking about cool special editions. When I saw the Barnes and Noble edition, I knew I had to have it. Then, of course, the Owlcrate edition came out and I loved that one even more. However, I had to remind myself I don’t need three copies of the same book. (Or maybe I do🤷‍♀️) Anyway, I think the Owlcrate edition is so beautiful that I wish I waited. I love the white with the rose gold. I prefer the U.S. cover over the UK just because I find the art on the U.S. one so aesthetic. Ugh. They can’t do this to me. I just want them all, but my bank account doesn’t.

I always recommend anything by Marissa Meyer, Carve the Mark (Veronica Roth), Grishaverse (Leigh Bardugo), Three Dark Crowns series, Legend series, Scythe series, and the System Divine series. Not including a bunch of other books and series that I love and would recommend to any avid reader!

How do I even pick a favorite character? Legend and his secrecy, Jacks and his apples, Julian and his heart, Tella and her free-spirit, Scarlett and her love. Each of them holds a place in my heart, but I have to pick one. Probably (since I have to choose) I would say Legend. But my favorite book couple is Julian and Scarlett. I can’t get over Caraval and the untrustworthy allies to loves trope between them.
