We Were LiarsWe got a question referencing Goodreads in our Instagram Q&A today, so I thought I'd open a new group discussion! Looking back and forward, what are everyone's thoughts/reactions to the We Were Liars book or show? Did you read the book back in 2014, during the TikTok resurgence, or this year for the first time?
We also revealed that we're reading Shatter Me in July (finally)! What are your thoughts on this book--love it, hate it, indifferent? Anything that we definitely need to talk about in the episode?
Our Sunrise on the Reaping episode won't be out for another couple of weeks because we want to give everyone time to finish, but we FLEW through it. I wanted to open a discussion for your initial thoughts and reactions (try to keep the spoilers light please!), as well as for you to mention anything you want us to discuss on the episode/any questions you have for us!
It's here! What are your favorite Hunger Games moments or memories? What are you most looking forward to us covering on the show?
What do you remember about The 5th Wave? Do you love the book? Hate it? Did you watch the movie? Share your thoughts on the book/episode with us in the thread!
Our Darkest Minds episode is out TODAY! Do you love the book? Hate it? Did you watch the movie? Share your thoughts on the book/episode with us in the thread!
Our first time reading the was being when we were adults was interesting, to say the least. Did you read/reread the series or watch the movie? What did you think back then vs. now?
Thanks all for your suggestions and kind words! Unwind, Cinder, and The Darkest Minds are all on our list, but we'll definitely have to look into the others too :)
Our first contemporary book! (Don’t worry, plenty more dystopias and fantasies to come). It’s been so fun hearing my friends’ stories about reading TFiOS (and other John Green novels) for the first time, so I wanted to open up the discussion here as well. Is there anyone out there who listened to the episode but HASN’T read the book? Thanks as always for listening, and we’re happy to hear any suggestions you have!
Thanks for the suggestions!! City of Bones and Hush Hush are high up on our list and we’ve talked about doing Maximum Ride, but we’ll have to look into the others too!
Okay, two wild ones in a row! Daphne and I had pretty varying opinions on these two books--did y'all read or reread them? What did/do you think?
Hopefully by now you've had a chance to listen to the latest episode, but even if you haven't, feel free to chime in about the book! Daphne and Colin had very interesting rereading experiences of The Maze Runner, and Kellie finally consulted her 15-year-long grudge against the book. Our takeways? Very similar issues to those in Allegiant (ugh!), Newtmas shippers are valid, and we all love Minho.Anyone remember reading this book for the first time, whether as a kid or an adult? What did you think? Do you agree or disagree with any of our takes?
We're finally finished with this journey that we started back in February! It's definitely been a mixed experience revisiting this series, from the very fun start to downright baffling conclusion. Here's our space to discuss any memories, surprises, overall opinions, or favorite findings about Allegiant and the Divergent series as a whole! (That includes the movies ;))
Kay wrote: "You should definitely do delirium and legend!"Thanks so much for the suggestions! So many people have asked for Delirium that we're actually planning to do it sooner than we originally thought! Neither of us have read it, so we're really excited. Legend is on our book list as well!
Our reread/first time read of The Selection was wild. Daphne and Katie discovered that Illea's legal system is way more ridiculous than they remembered ("At its barest of bones, the Selection was kind of disturbing"), and Kellie was gobsmacked by the ending.Link to the podcast episode here if you haven't listened! https://open.acast.com/public/streams...
samiha wrote: "What about “The Giver” series? Most people only read the first book but I remember owning the box set and reading the first three, esp Gathering Blue!"I actually read the first one in seventh grade and then the next two in eighth, but so many people don't know it's a series! A fourth came out in high school which I never got around to, so I definitely want to do these! Daphne hasn't read them so I'LL be the expert for once haha
