🦋Christofia Book 1🦋Chapter
‘,,1,,’
The hollow tree
In a dusty and mysterious forest of green, there once was a huge smelly wonderful tree. The smell was a horrible mixture of rotten wood, sweat, and slime, surrounded by sticky spiderwebs and liquid dropping out of the holes. A place where humans would never visit because of Its smell. And that kind of place was perfect for secrets to whom they would never be revealed! But as true as my name is Glaven, there was a secret in the tree a huge one that glowed like the sun. Even in the middle of the night, the light kept glowing without any limits.
Sure there had been nature explorers here but at the time when they smelled that awful smell, they would run away and never come back. Or who knows? Maybe it was the blinding light of the tree that scared them away.
And that's when we come to me. As you may remember, my name is Glaven.
My pointy nose and ears let everyone know I’m a troll. I’m tall and gangly, and I’m the only one that doesn’t know my life story. Everybody in Cristofia has their own story to tell, but not me.
Hoglow, the great wizard, my friend, says my story is yet unwritten. So that’s why I wrote this story so I can prove to everyone that I have a story to tell. Inside this awful-smelling tree lies the secret land of ‘Cristofia’. But first, you have to manage to find the secret door. The secret door was not where you most expected it to be; it was under the tree root with the most slime - to the left you will find it. But, aha wait you're not there yet. After you have found the door, you have to do the secret knock code. Knock 4 times slowly, and softly; then knock quickly 2 times hard and the door will open. And I know all this because I live in the tree!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Given, Glaven where are you?” The long white-bearded wizard ‘Hoglow’ was walking through Cristofia’s forest looking for the hob. His beard was so long that it covered up all his face: all that you could see of his face was a long, fat nose sticking out. He held a wand as big as a giant’s foot made of branches from a tree with three giant thorns on the top. He stopped walking and paused near a thick tree covered with green moss. His white curly hair was blowing in different directions with the wind. The wizard started to grumble and mumble words. And as quick as lightning a flying blue bird headed in his direction.
Starting to flap slower and slower, it then landed gently on the wizard's bony hand. The bluebird started to twitter softly at the wizard as if she was telling him something. Hoglow said with his grumpy and wise voice “Where is Glaven? I can’t find him."
The bluebird squeaked back and started to twirl in the air in circles around the wizard’s head and kept squeaking. Hoglow told the bird to remain calm, they would certainly find Glaven eventually. Then he said ‘“Please Blue, could you try to find him? This isn’t the first time this has happened. But my memory fails me - when was the last time I saw him? I do not know.”
The bird twittered something that sounded like a yes, and as quickly as she had come, she was gone again.
The wizard started to cry out loud "Oh no, not again; this is just getting worse." Green leaves and branches started to grow in the wizard's beard, and on his wand sprouts of green crawled up, almost covering all of him. Hoglow mumbled and muttered, then he finally lost patience and grabbed his wand, holding it up as high as he could, facing the sun. "Enough! Find somebody else to crawl on!’ Then he bent down and began knocking on the ground. Sound waves spew out from the wand. And all the plants crawled back again to their homes. "This is one of the disadvantages of being old." he grumbled.
Meanwhile, Blue had spotted Glaven; as usual, he was in his little cozily hob house. Glaven’s house of stone was covered with moss and other plants. The three squared windows were glowing like yellowish beams.
