50x66 (1.) The story describes the old woman as kind, but heartbroken. (2.) She had to leave everything behind except the clothes on her back. (3.) Not only did she have to leave a table that was very important to her, but her babies as well. (4.) Despite her hardships, she still managed to make it to America. (5.) She wanted the best for her life, even if it was going to be difficult to get. (6.) When she created the Joy Luck club, despite the hardships, they still managed to find the good things despite how miserable everything around them was.

50x66 (1.) The symbolism of the feathers signifies the innocence and the importance of cultural dreams. (2.) The mother traveled a long distance going from China to America. (3.) The old woman wants to have a daughter just like her so she doesn’t make the same mistakes the mother did. (4.) The mother says “This feather may look worthless, but it comes from afar and carries with it all my good intentions.” (5.) She waited until she could tell her daughter in perfect English, but that day never came.

(2.)She initially thinks her mother lies about the story where she had to leave everything behind until she got more details.(3.)The mother is frequently talking about the “better daughter” and bragging about how good she is about other things like piano playing. (4.) Jing-Mei Woo is also seen as disrespectful and unknowing of Chinese culture. (5.)Due to this “disrespectfulness”, the Aunties seem to not trust her when she says “I’ll tell them everything”, talking about her mother. (6.) Regardless of the Aunties not believing her at first, after more reassurance, Jing-Mei is trusted a little more.
