I agree. I keep imagining how better and more mysterious the story could be. There are leprechauns, a god of technology, and Wednesday is surely a god of con artists. Make them do something worthwhile!

Also, the plot involving his wife and best friend seemed to be rather forced on us, not to mention entirely unnecessary so far.

At first, I thought she'd probably suck out his soul or something sort of like Vampiric Medusa. Anyway, I'll try to read the second chapter tonight.

I don't think I could stomach reading it twice, but for once at least, it is a male who's the victim not the female :P

I've read the first chapter only. The way the chapter ended made me feel sick enough that I got flashbacks to the Species movie series, only somehow worse and yucky. I'll resume it tomorrow hopefully.

Phew! This is vastly different from when I read Coraline :/

Also, the name Shadow, do you think it's the sort of name that gives us hints about his character?

I agree, Harry. The fake shot was a weak point, and it was exactly what prevented us from figuring out the real killer. We were led to believe that it was a thorough check and the person was really dead.

Then my suspicion shifted to Blore and the Judge, but after the Judge's death, I was sure it had to be someone other than them. (hide spoiler)]

It was the obvious guilt, even though she consciously didn't feel that, she knew she was responsible for that girl's death.

I'm done! Wow, I haven't felt this way since reading Sherlock Holmes for the first time years ago. I have become a Christie fan.

I was right about the person who gets killed first, but I believed the General to be next. I can't believe they haven't figured the relation between the poem and the deaths yet.

I haven't read beyond chapter 7.

It's okay, Harry. I'm having a difficult time stopping myself too. And yes, the writing is good. One thing that I'm really appreciating is that the mystery starts on pretty early. I recently read Strangers on a Train and Gone Girl, and I have to say it took me a long time to really get into those novels unlike this one.

Have you watched Files of Young Kindaichi, it's pretty similar to Conan but the protagonist is a high schooler.

Yeah. It's making me want to re-watch Conan :)

BTW this story is reminding me of a certain Detective Conan episode where a group of friends are invited to an island for a reunion and one by one get killed. The mansion in there was surrounded by a ravine and only a bridge connected the house with the port, and they find the bridge damaged so they get trapped in the house with no way to escape. And it's upto Conan to decide who among the guests is the killer. One of my favourite episode :)
