I saw that there is a prequel series that was written after this one. I was just wondering if I should read that first to get the best experience from the timeline. I would love to see opinions from people who have already read both.
After a long struggle I've decided to put this one down for good, but that's not really what this post is about. I was the first to suggest this book to be read for this group. I know it takes a lot of votes for a book to win but I still feel pretty bummed that I picked a book no one likes. just wanted to apologize.
What did I just read? I reply enjoyed the prologue but chapters 1 and 2 were a bit confusing. I'm not sure if I just missed it, do we know why they are fighting? and who's fighting? and finally, what did rob do that made him so upset at the end of chapter 2? I might reread those chapters after I get more of a handle on the actual story.
I also thought the connections to the 2 races on earth were a little too convenient but I liked part 2 better. I thought the story was better because it was more character driven than part 1. I thought the differences of the 7 was really cool, even cooler because it was backed by science.part 1 was a little too heavy on the science for my liking. I was able to follow it fine, but I definitely like my characters to be flushed out because people are not one dimensional and with all that science there just wasn't room to explore the characters more. Snow Crash is still my favorite book by Stephenson.
I just remembered about this book! Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milan. It's blurbed by George RR Martin! he said it's like a mix of Game of Thrones and Jurassic Park. YES PLEASE!
I'm about halfway through this section. I get that this is a sci-fi book so there's bound to be a lot of scientific explanation for everything and I love that but with everything that is happening I just feel like the emotional element gets lost. I mean it's the end of the world and I feel like these characters just don't care. anybody else feel this way?
I'm so excited that my pick won! This is going to be so much fun. I have read Snow Crash by Stephenson but I think the genre is considered cyber punk. I've heard really good things about Seveneves. I'm looking forward to discussing it and trying to understand it!
