"A Good Man is Hard to Find" and "Revelations" by O'Connor display violence in both short stories. The grandmother and Mrs. Turpin display similarities when it comes to their attitudes, the women display themselves superior and a need to impress and judge others. O'Connor also tied in religion to both short stories, both women seek guidance from God when their in trouble. In these short stories you can sense O'Connor's ties with her religious background and her southern roots and how she portrayed the south at time with the racism and categorization.
The main characters from The Storm and The Chrysanthemums have many similarities, both women live in rural settings and both suffer from isolation and trapped marriages. Elisa from the Chrysanthemums lives on farm in Salinas, California and her only enjoyment is tending to her garden. In The Storm, Calixta lives in Louisiana and is married to a man who was not the love of her life. These two women desired something in their life, they felt isolated and powerless. Both women were married but were unhappy with their spouses. The men were good men but to the women they felt like they didn’t understand them. Elisa, from The Chrysanthemums, craved a different scenery while Calixta, from The Storm, wanted the man she truly desired.
The Flea by John Donne tells us that speaker finds reason in something little has a flea. A flea is a parasite that sucks bloods from the speaker and from his lover. He sees the flea as a carrier of three lives, his lovers, his own, and the flea’s itself while the lover just sees some filthy parasite. The speaker tries to explain how in the flea their blood runs together and can represent them being together with no one to judge. His lover does not see what he does and kills it with no regard. The speaker is appalled with her actions and believes the flea was guilty except for the drop of blood it took from them and how she killed his life that was in the flea.
I consider Sammy quitting as a statement of some sort. Sammy works at A&P and is bored with the way his life is at the moment, he looks at his friend Stokesie's and knows he does not want to turn out like him, married with kids and still working there. Lengel is another possible outcome Sammy can end up as, Sunday school teacher with conservative ways. He sees a group of girls that are wearing nothing but swimsuits which is uncommon in the store, which can represent a freshness and adventure and Sammy sees a contrast between the girls life and his. When Lengel insults the girls Sammy takes it personal because he wishes to be like them or what they represent so Sammy takes offense and quits to take a stand on his life and by quitting he's making his first adult decision and is ready to face it.
Esperanza is a latina with a big family, which is unheard of in hispanic cultures. Esperanza is a little girl who moved houses all the time and her parents always dreamt of having a stable home for their family. As an adolescent she experiences many changes but once her family finally finds a stable home she is unsatisfied but knows how much her family struggled to get this home. Esperanza was ashamed of her life but this gave her motivation to do something better with her future.
Because I Could Not Stop for Death by Emily Dickinson shows us the passage from death to paradise. I believe death is escorting the speaker to paradise and on the way her life is reminiscing back to her. The speaker describes death as a person picking her up in a car and being calm and in no rush, “We slowly drove – He knew no haste.” The speaker shows no fear as her life plays back and as they reach the end she seems ready to enter eternity.
The grandmother is considered a misfit because she demands everything she wants. The family's vacation was in Florida but was trying everything in her power to convince his son, Bailey, to go to Tennessee. All the changes she demands lead to the death of the family. Messing with the luggage that scares the cat she was not supposed to bring, the scared cat distracts Bailey and causes the accident, and when they crash the misfits find them and murder the family. The grandmother is manipulative and gets her son to do anything she wants. She convinces the children with stories and turns them against their parents when it is necessary for her.
Nancy wrote: "Although Mr. Wright was not a bad person and he “didn’t drink, kept his word and paid his debts,” he had no right to kill the bird, if it was him that did it, because that was the only thing left f..."At the beginning it is unclear on the murder of Mr. Wright and the murder of the canary but throughout the story we can estimate the crimes. I agree with you about Mrs. Wright being rightfully prosecuted.
The story revolves around a man in a soliloquy. Prufrock is portrayed as an over educated man but is extremely insecure. He explains his life as ordinary and repetitive when he states.. "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons"... He attends numerous amounts of events and every time the women speak of art they truly no nothing about. He explains that even if he is getting old there will still be time to be adventurous and confident.I do not agree with McCoy and Harlem. I believe Prufrock is an over educated man around under educated people which is why he feels his life is so ordinary, he can not relate with anybody. I believe Prufrock is not a pathetic man but can be grand in a different environment or even the man he wishes to be.

Eveline should of left and started the life the mother never had.

She tried to weigh ..."I agree with you on her reason for staying but I believe she should of left and live the life the mother never had.
I believe Minnie Wright was guilty of murder because they were so many other solutions she could have done besides homicide but in a feminist point of view I can understand why she committed this crime. John Wright was portrayed as a good man but when it came to women there was this uncomfortable feel to it. Mrs. Hale states, “… He was a hard man… Like a raw wind that gets to the bone…” From this quote we can point out that she was uncomfortable around him maybe even afraid. In my opinion I think Minnie Wright committed this crime because she was a victim of emotional abuse, Mr. Wright shut her out and did not let her be the women she was known to be so she might have gotten a psychotic break from feeling trapped for so long. I do not believe this murder was a defiance of patriarchy because she did not fight against her problem but merely silenced it by killing Mr. Wright.
I believe Eveline made the wrong decision about staying with her abusive father. In my opinion I believe she stayed because she wanted to honor her mother’s wish about keeping her family together but I also believe she made the decision out of fear. When you’ve had the same rotation in your life for a while it can be quite difficult to break it but if the change was to improve your life anyone who truly wanted to be better would move on. Eveline quoted that she did not want to end up like her mother but by staying there that is exactly what she will become. Even though it was the mother’s dying wish for her to keep the family together I believe she was wrong in making her agree to this promise because her unhappiness will just move down to Eveline.

Hilda wrote: "In the poem “Porphyria’s Lover” it could be reffered as the love obsession that a man can have for a women. In the poem the man is obsessed with Porphyria. "Made my heart swell, and still it grew W..."I agree with you, I strongly believe the narrator had a strong obsession with her and because she was not committed he believed murder was the right choice.
I believe Browning’s intentions on writing this poem was to point out how people are full of contradictions. We judge Porphyria because in the poem she is portrayed has an unwed sexual women who lives two different lives. She is seen has a women who is ashamed of the man she loves because of her social standards and that makes her inconsiderate and at that time it was unacceptable. Browning changes our opinion towards the end when she is brutally murdered and makes us feel sympathy for her. He takes us on this emotional roller coaster that proves we change our opinions on people easily depending on their situations.

Throughout the first act Macbeth seems loyal but took a turn and started plotting his murder, which was expected.
