That's okay! Glad to have you back! Hope all is well. :)Morgan wrote: "Oh my goodness! Sorry I've been so completely MIA. This Friday (aka payday) I'll order our July book and FINALLY get back on track! :)"
I'm about to dive into our book of the month! I'm so excited. :)I hope the book you are reading has improved. Happy reading!
Mary wrote: "What is every one reading? I started reading "The Search for Anne Perry". I'm a little disappointed. It is too much like a book report and not enough about her. I'm only half way through so there i..."
The "Bookshelf" section of this group is used to catalogue the books that we read and are currently reading. Also, it can be used to catalogue books that you would like to read.If you'd like to add books, simply click "Bookshelf" and it will take you to our catalogue of books. Then, there is a "Search" function that you can then use to find books you want to add as a potential book club read.
Hope this helps! :)
Mary wrote: "Can someone explain to me the purpose of the "Bookshelf". I'm not sure how to use it.
Thanks"
I think so, Mary. Summer certainly has that effect on some people! But, I'm hoping to get this book club back to normal throughout the month of July. I will be creating a voting poll today to choose our next book. :)Mary wrote: "Hey Emily, your so right...it has been a slow month. Everyone must be out having fun in the sun. I live in Reno and it is cool today but usually it is so hot I just stay indoors and read or sew."
This is the discussion board in which you can talk about anything and everything (bookish and/or non-bookish)! :)
Hi everyone,It's been a quiet month for The Revolving Shelf. I apologize for the lack of posts and discussions. This is not what I (and my fellow moderators) want for this book club. However, some times life can be a bit hectic and unpredictable. And, as a result, our passions and hobbies get demoted to the bottom of the priorities list. (I know this all too well!)
That said, I would like for this book club to be a space for which you can unwind after a long day and talk to fellow bookworms about anything and everything. We have such a wonderful group here and it would be great if we could all connect more with one another. I will be creating a thread for such discussions. Whether you want to talk about books you've recently purchased (or are thinking of purchasing), some of your all-time favorite books, or whatever is on your mind, please don't hesitate to do so! :)
Since we didn't vote for our June read in May, I think it would be best to simply skip June and vote for a July read. Also, do y'all prefer a month-to-month book club or do you want to skip every other month? Let us know your thoughts.
Thanks so much, friends!
I hope everyone is doing well. Have an awesome day!

Interesting. I'm not far into it, but I can't wait to understand the elephant reference! Mary wrote: "I found this book one of her best. I did get a little tired of the elephant reference not understanding what it all meant until I got to the end. Wow!"
I'm sorry to hear that you've had a difficult month. I can totally relate. Sending positive vibes your way. <3Truthfully, I started to read it, but I've been so distracted and I haven't been able to get far into it. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend, though!
Morgan wrote: "I'm going to be honest here, I've had an emotional rollcercoaster of a month so far and haven't had a chance to read a single book! "
Hi, my lovely bookworms! It's the first of May and that means it's time for us to start our next book club read! Based on the poll results, this month we will be reading and discussing Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. This book was chosen based on our Mother's Day/Mother-Daughter theme.
In this discussion board you can talk about the book more generally (i.e. Did you enjoy it? Character thoughts? Problems with the plot? Problems with the pace of the novel? etc.). Additionally, since we are reading based on a theme this month, it would be nice to have discussions that focus on the relationship between mother and daughter. Though, feel free to discuss whatever you'd like.
As with Passenger, I will create weekly discussion threads for those of you that like to discuss books comprehensively.
Can't wait to talk with y'all! :) <3
Hi bookworms,Voting for our next book club read ends in a couple of days. So, if you haven't voted yet, make sure to do so. As of right now, Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult is in the lead. Though, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan is behind by one vote. No matter, it looks like we will have a great book to read in May!
Hope you all are having a wonderful day. <3

Yes, I think that is largely the reason why I couldn't get into the book. The time travel aspect was very confusing. I felt bewildered at the end of each chapter. Your review on your blog is spot on! I didn't find much to enjoy about it. It saddens me to DNF a book, especially our first book club read. But, when it starts to feel like a chore, one must put it down.

Great! If you go here, [https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...], you can cast your vote! :)Mary wrote: "I would vote "Leaving Time". I'm a big Jodi Picolt fan."
Good to know! Yes, much of the first half is incredibly drawn out. The pace was very slow. And, I felt a reading slump coming as a result. Nevertheless, I might pick it up at a later date. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Maren! <3Maren wrote: "Emily wrote: "Interesting. I marked it DNF around 50%. At which point did you feel it started to pick up?

Hi, everyone! It's about that time that we figure out next month's book club read. Morgan had the idea of a Mother's Day or Mother-Daughter theme, which I think is wonderful. Though, if you have any objections, please let us know.
However, I am going to create a poll with books that comply with that theme. I will list several books. And, as always, you will have the ability to write in a book that you think would be better read. If you can vote within the next couple of days that would be great.
Thanks!
Emily

I think the book was quite hyped and perhaps that was its downfall for me. Unfortunately, I gave up on it. I marked it DNF around 50%, but I hope to revisit it at a later date. I will take your thoughts into consideration! The time-traveling aspect is compelling. But, to me, it was a bit disorganized and (at times) disjointed. Did you (or anyone else) feel this way?
Kaylee wrote: "My overall review of the book is mixed. I also found it fairly difficult to get into at the beginning but at around the half way point I found the pages flipped faster and by the end I wanted MORE!..."
I agree wholeheartedly. I've tried really hard to get into it these past couple of days, but I feel as though I'm forcing myself to read it. The more I read, the less intriguing it becomes. Sadly, this may be a DNF for me. Morgan wrote: "I'm not in love with it either unfortunately. I got 12 chapters in towards the beginning of the month and then just had to put it to the side. I never do that, ever, but it honestly was dragging fo..."
Hi, everyone!I'm about half way through Passenger. I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of the writing or story. Do any of you feel the same way?
