Lady Fidelm (and all the women of her clan, for that matter) *are* pretty bad-ass. I'm looking forward to writing more about them! :)

190025 Medyr has grown to be one of my favorites. I love Eowain and his kin, but Medyr gave me, as the author, a wider opportunity to learn and grow, because of the research involved in who and what he is and the role he plays in the hedge-king's court. And Fidelm and her kin are also very interesting to me in that way too. I'm looking forward to exploring the women of Dolgallu and their unique culture in future installments of the series. :)

190025 That's a very interesting question. Certainly, in this day and age, it seems pretty barbaric. We have a much more developed sense of individuality and personal destiny than our medieval forebears had. In a culture where family was literally the only thing that stood between oneself and a very harsh world with very few "legal protections," the mindset changes somewhat. But it does put women in a godawful position, as I'll be exploring in the next two books in the series. :)
