205699 Though the 2005 version is rushed, is not a faithful adaptation, and has some historical inaccuracies, as just "a movie" it is beautiful. I LOVE the sweeping shots that Joe Wright brings to his films, and the soundtrack is just lovely.

I actually really like Keira Knightley; I don't get why so many people hate on her, but I guess we all have different tastes! Matthew Macfadyen is a good actor, but he didn't sell Darcy to me. It might have been the writing rather than his acting, but I felt that there was very little in the way of characterization and change in him from beginning to end.

One thing that I will say the 2005 version did better than other adaptations though is actually making the Bennet girls look younger! I mean Kitty is supposed to be 15 and she always looks significantly older than that.

Oh I liked her reading the Magician's Elephant.

It's a dramatization, so I believe so.

205699 @Marlene, yes I believe it was just released this month. I look forward to seeing what you think of it. I love Emma Thompson. I listened to her narrate the Turn of the Screw, and she was mesmerizing

205699 "...dwelled him to death." Sounds like someone with powerful mind control! :-P

If you reverse translate the word into Portuguese and back, the word is "lived," so I would assume it was just a poorly translated way to say "I knew I should have killed him".

I don't know about the "Owwwwnnn" though!

205699 Congrats Anna! I'm still working through mine, but am really loving it.

205699 I love fiction books with real authors as characters! Thanks for the suggestion!

If we're on the subject of kids books, I recently listened to the audiobook of The Girl Who drank the Moon and absolutely in love with it! I highly recommend it.

205699 I enjoyed the movie but felt that it was a bit confusing if you have not read the story since it kind of just jumps straight in. Even more so if you do not know a lot about mannerism of that period. I had to explain to my mom why they all hated her from the beginning.

205699 Abigail. You have such a great set of choices, it was hard to choose! I've picked Longbourn Library for you to read next month. I hope you enjoy it!

205699 I finished my Feb pick earlier this month but still haven't posted a review (hope to get to that next!). I'm game for April as well though. Here are some physical books that have been on my self unread for a while:

1. Longbourn
2. An Assembly Such as This
3. A Weekend with Mr Darcy
4. The Watsons & Sandition (putting this duo as a single option since they're both short, unfinished works)
5. A Jane Austen Education: How Six Novels Taught Me About Love, Friendship, and the Things That Really Matter

205699 Anji, it always bugs me when I feel I've seen an actor in something before! I feel like I'm constantly in the IMDB app when watching things. I love seeing all the connections between actors.

From that list, my vote is for Lost in Austen. Though it's longer, and obviously messes with the P&P story quite a bit, it is completely self aware and pokes fun at that fact. The main actress is wonderful and there's nothing like a redemption story for a favorite villain! This is actually one of my go to movies when I'm stressed and need an emotional connection and pick me up. Honestly I'm not sure why I'm drawn to it as much, perhaps because it's easier to relate with the heroine than to Austen's simply because of the time period?
