Indeed. But this book is really well written, super detailed, and the whole story here, the events which lead up to the incident, the fact that there was even a lesbian love triangle between girls this young and the levels of jealousy that could exist is mind-boggling. In some cookie cutter midwest town at that. Plus the back-stories behind each girl are intriguing, man, it gets complex!

Im unsure if Melinda Loveless would have carried through with actual murder, although she HAD spoken multiple times about wanting Shanda dead. But fate introduced her to Laurie Tackett who readily went along that night. Laurie who had fantasized about killing someone, burning them, stabbing them. Had already sacrificed animals for Satanic rituals in the past.It was her oppourtunity to carry out this murdereous deed; she felt it was her destiny to kill someone. And the other two who also participated/let it all go down, for the approximately 8 hours poor Shanda's torture lasted. Its insane that this even happened..Its hard to read at times but I really recommend this book. Page-freaking-turner.

I actually had nightmares last night which is rare. But in all seriousness, this is a heartbreaking story, very well written and paints a very vivid picture of this crime and all the people involved.
