I visited Charleston once and really enjoyed it; interesting city and history. I'll be intrigued to see how much the location factors into the story.
I suggest the one about the Illinois State Fair-- "Getting Away from Already Being Pretty Much Away from It All" or some such pithy title.
Well, it's "quick" relative to everything else he writes? I mean, he's hilarious, but it's not for nothing that the word "infinite" is half the title of his first novel.
Please note! I very strongly encourage people reading the book to start with the title essay, which is the last one in the book. Some of his topics are pretty obscure, but his obsessive description of a weeklong luxury cruise is hopelessly entertaining.
A Thousand Days in VeniceA memoir about... something happy? Is this possible?
Indeed it is. This quick, easy read is a love story for grown-ups, a thought-provoking narrative of how love at (almost) first sight turns into (mostly) happily ever after. The story and the telling are suffused with the mystery and beauty of Venice-- and love itself.
Captivating!
