Kat kept going, leaping from tree to tree as silent as a mouse till she got to the source of the noise. She looked down and felt her heart pounding in her ears. "Oh," she whispered, "it's only you." Down below underneath her was a red wolf with handsome gold streaks scattered throughout his fur. Kat dropped down from the branch she was clinging to and pet the wild dog's head. It had become a sort of pet to her since she started hunting out here. She fed him scraps and he protected her from bears. So she let him stick around.

Kristin looked at Max. He was just a normal little boy except for the fact that both his parents were killed. He had sandy blond hair, bright green eyes, and his face was covered in frekles. "Come one bud it's time to go to bed."Kristin said trying to hide the fear in her voice. Tomorrow was the day of the reaping and if she was called Max wouldnt have anyone to take care of him.

Gale doesn't seem like he would just dissapear and never talk to her again.

Kristin ran into the small torn up shack she called home and shook out her hair sending little droplets of water everywhere, including all over a little boy, sitting on a stool in front of the blazing fire, she knew as Max Tide. Max was 11 he still had a year until his name was put into the huge crystal ball of the reaping, she hated so much.

"Hey don't get me all wet!!" Max cried as he added another log to the growing fire.

"I'll make sure Sicka is okay," Kairi told Jary as she helped her stand up and slowly walked to the door guiding Sicka by her wrists.

"Oh no. Not now!" Kairi groaned. "You aren't 12 yet are you Jary?" Kairi asked hopefully, as she replaced Sicka's make shift bandages.

its weird i didn't cry either.

"I'm not sure but I'm about to find out," Kat replied drawing her knife. She ran to a suitable tree and scurried up, using the rough bark as hand holds. She carefully moved to a branch farther out and used it to swing gracefully to the nearest tree.

Kat heard a noise behind her, she spun around and took out her knife.
