44408 The book that I read is called “The Summoning” by the Canadian author Kelley Armstrong. Canadians should read this book because it has great style, it is a fiction book that will keep your suspense up and because it is full of mystery, action, romance and even a little bit of comedy.

This book is about a girl named Chloe. She can talk to ghosts, see them, bring them back into their bodies and send them to their afterlife. Her family thinks she is crazy when she runs away from a ghost that chases her for the first time, so they send her to this house where others like her live. There are others like her living in Lyle House, others with supernatural powers, one can make magic, one is a were wolf, and one is telekinetic, there are more of them but they all believe that they were put there randomly. Some, including Chloe decide to escape, after a couple of hours the two girls get caught and they are brought back to another place where they get locked up. This is where Chloe finds out that they were not just randomly put there.

This book has great style. It is easy to read and keeps the readers’ attention going. This is where I got the idea of the characters inner thoughts being written out for my short story because Chloe also has the voice inside her telling her things. It also teaches about schizophrenia and a little about diabetes. It contains new words like necromancer which is what Chloe is, a person that can connect to the ghosts.

There were not connections between me and the book because it is a fiction book. I do not believe in ghosts. The main character Chloe raises questions like: Should we believe everything that we see? What if you think you are crazy, is everything you see real or is it just your imagination? How do you know whether it is real or not? Do you believe it is real? Do others believe in things you tell them? Or, do they think you are lying or making it up just because you are crazy? In this book, Chloe tries to find herself. Does she believe what others are telling her or does she believe in herself? That, would be the final question.

This book is also about hope, and it raises questions about who to trust and whether people are really who you think they are. There is a quote in this book that says “Oh, that’s great. You’ve been awake five minutes, taken a quick look around, and given up. Why don’t you just lie back and wait for them to come up and strap you to a table?” This quotes is used in a very sarcastic tone, it was used by the voice inside Chloe, making sure that she would not give up and that she would keep on going, trying to get out of that place. There is another quote. “It was all a lie. She was a lie. Our relationship was a lie”, this quote was on the book, thought by Chloe when she finds out that her aunt was a liar because she was taking them back to the ‘bad’ people. It raises questions about whether people are who you think they are or someone different.

All in all, this is a great book that takes its reader to that ‘never’ land. It was an amazing book with many twists and turns, one that ‘has it all’. It has many messages about trusting strangers or even people you know, and about hope, how you should never stop believing in yourself and most of all never give up.
