It really grabbed my attention. "Wait, wha..."

...and now I am curious! Well played!

50549 I usually enjoy Liane Moriarty and had Truly Madly Guilty on my to-read list. Hope it picks up!

50549 The Unseen World and Why We Hate the Oil Companies. The book on the oil industry is thought provoking. The other I am just starting this afternoon.

50549 I read myself to sleep every single night. So, that would be whatever I am reading at any given moment. Last night I started The Three Weissmanns of Westport.

50549 Oh, Arrowood sounds like one I would enjoy. I have just started My Grandfather's Blessings by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. It's subtitled Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging. The dedication reads "for everyone who has been given more blessings than they have received". That thought hooked me before I'd even begun.

50549 I am a sucker for beautifully bound books. They are like fine art to me. My copy of Life of Pi is bright blue leather-like material that makes it more than a paperback, but more comfortable in hand than a hardback. The pages also have gold gilding. What is even better, is that it is such a good book making it one book that you can indeed judge by its cover.

50549 I won a Goodreads book give-away recently receiving a copy of The Memory of Things by Gae Polisner. This is the first one of Polisner's books I have read. It is the story of two young people who meet in the immediate aftermath of Sept 11. I am about halfway through and am enjoying it. One of the characters is presenting in a complete and clear way while the other is shrouded in mystery. I am anxious to read on and find out more about the girl's back story.

50549 I am now reading When Breath Becomes Air. Seems like a summer of memoir for me so far.

50549 It turned out to be far more memoir than solution. It was an enjoyable read, but didn't leave me feeling any more secure about the future of the aquifer or our efforts to preserve it.

50549 I am just beginning The Ogallala Road: A Story of Love, Family, and the Fight to Keep the Great Plains from Running Dry. Having grown up in Western Kansas, I am concerned about the depletion of the Ogallala Aquifer. This book is the memoir of a woman who inherited a Kansas farm and had to come to terms with its dependence on the aquifer.
