65658 Middle aged, you are only 4 years older than me LOL I am NOT middle age yet LOL :)

I just read an interesting coming of age story called The Earthquake Machine....its a contempo YA book, but I would put it as more of an adult lit book...a little more graphic than a YA novel to say the least. I wasn't sure that I would like it when I read the summary...it sounded a little weird to me but after I started reading it I got into it and decided it was pretty good. It is a coming of age novel about a young girl and her personal journey and dealing with death, change, culture, feminism, and family. Might be worth a read through :)

65658 I am only about 100 pages in so far....so I am only going to answer question 1 right now based on what I have read so far...

1) This is a great question....I don't know if I could pick between the two. I am like Anastasia in that get a guys within a small radius and I am all foot in mouth. My mouth is moving but I can't control what is coming out. I feel so bad for her every time she opens her mouth. But at the same time, I don't have the insecurities that Anastasia does. I don't have the "Grey would never be interested in a girl like you" complex that Anastasia does. At times I just want to shake her and be like snap out of it he's into you and why shouldn't he be??!! Maybe I am more like Kate LOL. Reading characters that are not confident or sure of themselves is hard for me at times a struggle for me because I am confident person....and I like having control so I am like Grey in that sense LOL. But for some reason I identify more with Anastasia, maybe its because we are reading from her POV....all the things that happen to her (up until now) I have felt or experienced in some way or another so it is nice to read a character that I 'get'. There is a part of me that is like Grey though and part of me that identifies with him more....I am confident, ambitious, and at times people consider me 'cold' which comes across as unfeeling especially when I meet people, I am more formal in my language than most people my age. So I can honestly say I don't have a definitive answer for this question LOL :). What about you Steven? As a guy do you instantly identify with Grey or do you identify with Anastasia? Perhaps another character?

65658 Hi Steven (and group!)

Just throwing out another suggestion for a female author...I can't remember if I suggested to you or not. Diana Gabaldon is one of my FAV authors. She wrote the Outlander series which is one of my all time fav series. It has a little bit of everything for female and male audiences a like....history, time travel, romance, mystery...every thing! I can't say enough good things about this series!! Anyway happy reading everyone!!

I keep hearing good things about "Night Circus." I will add it to the next poll!"

You will love it, I think it's one of the best kept secrets in current contempo lit :)
It is so beautiful and colorful...made me believe in the power of imagination all over again :)

I haven't read a lot of dystopian other than Hunger Games. I like..."

I was going to suggest City of Glass....Cassandra Clare also wrote the Infernal Devices series (the prequel to City of Glass/Mortal Instruments series) which I liked better in some ways. I would start with Clockwork Angel by Clare and go from there. I also finished Divergent by Veronica Roth which I REALLY liked, most than Hunger Games personally but that is just me :). Divergent was a great dystopian read if you are into or new to the genre :). Happy reading!!
