Lanelle wrote:"Sawako, are you making a guess?I've added a bit more information to the first message that might help with confusion. You need to get a letter or letters from the book you just..."
Sorry, Lanelle. I didn't get it the first time. I haven't read books yet. I'll get back when I do finish reading one. Thanks!
I don't have time to read so I'll switch to LibriVox listening. I'll read Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens and The Mystery of Mary by Grace Livingston Hill in 1912
Tim wrote: "I'll hopefully finish A Tale of Two Cities later today. I'm also reading Adam Bede at the end of September which i hope to finish this month. I read a bunch of science fict..."Great, plan. I wish you all the best.
Lanelle wrote: "I've updated my December possibilities list. Now I just have to decide which ones to read :)"You have an amazing lineup of books. Which one have you decided to read?
JenniferFour wrote: "I haven’t been good about posting but I have read a bit. I re-read Dark Hollow by Anna Katharine Green and I read a Fergus Hume recently."That's good.
Lanelle wrote: "Tim wrote: "Yes, I thought it could go all year. It's easy to find books and many are not intimidating"I like it."
I second that.
Hi Lanelle and Tim, Any ideas what are we going to do for next year?
Maybe do a poll two weeks before the next month to decide what book we should read. Even if we, mods, are the only ones reading them.
Happy Holidays!
Happy December, everyone! How are you doing? I'm reading one of my September books, Set in Silver. I'm trying my best to finish this reading challenge of reading 12 books.
I know most of you are busy with the holidays. But I hope you will take a minute to update us on your reading progress.
Talk to you soon!
Lanelle wrote: "I just finished reading Prince or Chauffeur? A Story of Newport. It was published in 1911. A fun little romance with espionage in it."I remember this book. It was a nice read.
Hey, everyone! A friendly check-in, how are you doing with your November reading?
Have you decided what books you'll read?
Mark wrote: "I'd never thought of using wikisource. Useful. Here's an example (and one where we also know the translation is in the public domain, not just the original): https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Poor_Folk"WOW. Thanks, Mark.
Hi, everyone! How was your September reading?
Sadly, I haven't managed to read any books.
Have you started your October reading yet?
I kinda wanted to read Our Mutual Friend this month because I've already watched the series and there is an audiobook version of it on LibriVox.
We'll see.
I hope you have fun reading.
Library wrote: "I completely skipped the lat few months, but I'm going to catch up using short stories. Life has gotten a bit crazy, and I completely forgot about this challenge. I'm gonna try to do better!"That's okay! Life was very busy for me as well.
Lanelle wrote: "Sawako wrote: "Have you decided what you will read for September?"Not really :("
I've decided to re-read Set in Sliver.
Lanelle wrote: "I didn't get any public domain books read this August :("That's okay, Lanelle. Life happens. Have you decided what you will read for September?
Hi, everyone! How's your reading coming along? For me, not so much.
I've been busy attending online webinars and workshops in August. That I've decided to re-read Patricia Brent, Spinster or to be more accurate to listen to the audio version of it. I'm in chapter 20 (the one before last).
Tim wrote: "I finished reading my July selection, The La Chance Mine Mystery by Susan Morrow Jones. This is a book I picked because of the title. I didn't know anything about it or the author. ..."It sounds like an interesting book. Maybe I should give it a read.
That's amazing! I was in High School (the second year, I believe) when we studied it (of course, the simplified version of the book).
