1-"There was something decorative about this, but also ominous or forbidding. they lay their on their bellies, their eyes closed, with the leader in the center, slightly ahead of the others. i did not like to think of the group emerging silently from the waters, marching toward me and my brother as we slept."2-
Conciliatory-calming, willing.
Serene-collected, comfortable.
Consortium-corporation, group.
Ominous-dark, haunting.
3-
Imagery-"The rotting had crept beyond the wrist and crane made his cut halfway up the forearm with a long bladed saw."
4-The Novel was a great and entertaining read. full of suspense and dark secrets. A huge twist in the plot when the contracts of the brothers' Hermann Kermit Warm and Morris die in an accident from acid. and soon Eli fulfills his duty as he kills the Commodore, their contractor. The Sisters Brothers was an awesome book, following the accounts of two assassins in the western era, one brother who is a blood lusting killer who loves violence and alcohol and the other who is a more sensitive man but kills when necessary.
1-"My very center was beginning to expand, as it always did before violence, a toppled pot of black ink covering the frame of my mind, its contents ceaseless, unaccountably limitless. My flesh and scalp started to ring and tingle and I became someone other than myself, or I became my second self, and this person was highly pleased to be stepping from the murk and into the living world where he might do just as he wished. I felt at once both lust and disgrace and wondered, Why do I relish this reversal to animal? I began exhaling hotly through my nostrils, whereas Charlie was quiet and calm, and he made a gesture that I should also be quiet. He was used to corralling me like this, winding me up and corralling me into battle. Shame, I thought. Shame and blood and degradation."2-
recuperation-healing, comeback.
blighted-annihilated,decayed.
ignobly-commonly, corruptly.
corralling-caging, confining.
3-
anecdote-"It's a long story. but basically, my brother knew violence from a young age, thanks to our father...So it was that Charlie sometimes found himself outnumbered, which was where i came in."
4- The plot has taken a massive turn, you find out that the Commodore only wanted warm dead because of the "antidote" and lying to the Sisters brothers that he had been robbed by Kermit warm. the story builds itself and the suspense and killing gets even better.
1."our blood is the same, we just use it differently."2."It's a peculiar life time on earth."

The novel has been a quick read and doesn't disappoint, lot of twists and turns in the plot.
1.POIGNANT LINE"what would the world be, i thought, without money hung around our necks, hung around our souls?"
2.VOCAB
niceties-detail, exactness
groggy-confused, dazed.
3. the coolest thing about this book is the violence it contains. almost every page depicts violence and gore of men shot in the head with their jaws hanging and brains and skulls being beaten down by boots. its disturbing but the way Dewitt writes is amazing!
1. POIGNANT LINE"just because of our guns and you assume it?"
"I assume nothing. i know by the dead men following behind you."
2.VOCAB

3.this book is a great read and doesn't dissapoint. it just sucks you in. the story is great and some scenes in the book are quite graphic
The book I chose is to read is called ‘The Sisters Brothers’ by Canadian author Patrick Dewitt. I had found this book in the Scotia bank Giller prize 2011. What piqued my interest in choosing this novel was the cover art, the silhouettes of the two male figures holding revolvers and made me curious and wanted to read what the story is about and also the genre is fictional history which made me more excited in picking up this novel. Throughout high school history had always been my favourite subject and thought that I would pick this novel up. I had read the synopsis and an excerpt and what really caught my attention was the setting. The main protagonists are two brothers called the sisters brothers who are contract killers that are supposedly on their final contract but then find out there is another job for them that they didn’t expect. I was hesitant in picking this book at first after seeing the amount of pages it had, around 320 pages. But after reading the synopsis and reading through the excerpts I completely changed my mind and went straight for it. I am pretty sure that I will be satisfied while reading this book and not get bored of it once I get to 100 pages or so, but seeing that it had a mix of murder, suspense, thriller and fictional history that suites my interest I may find myself having the book in my hands for a couple of hours.
