The Virgin Missile Crisis concerns a 17-year old boy's desperate attempt to lose his virginity before the world comes to an end during the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. The discussion topic is this: since 1962 are there really any 17-year olds left who could possibly be desperate about losing their virginity? Hasn't losing your virginity become as routine as getting your driver's license? What do other--post 1962--novels about teenage sex have to say about this?
