50x66 So for this month I have decided that our theme should revolve around Spring.

Spring is a time of new changes, new chances, and starting over. You can interpret that however you wish and read a book that you feel fits that ideal.
For me, that means giving a book I've put down a new chance, re-reading an old book, and reading a new book that I've been putting off.

For this month I have a longer list (again, your list can include how many books you want, could be one, or it could be a hundred--whatever works in your schedule).
For a book I've put down I have three: Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson, Every Day by David Levithan, and The Night Circus by Eric Morgenstern. All of these books I enjoyed while reading them, but I put down as I picked up a new book that caught my attention more so, and I never went back to them.
For the book I would like to re-read I have chosen History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. I've been thinking about this book a lot recently for some reason. I thoroughly enjoyed it when I read it, as you might have seen in my review of it. And I did try to re-read it recently, but I just didn't have time. So this month I would like to try again.
And lastly, for my new book I would like to give a chance I have chosen On the Come Up by Angie Thomas. I read The Hate U Give and loved it, so I am very excited to read this one, I have heard great reviews.

I would love to hear what you all are reading this month! Hoppy Reading!

Month roundup!

This month I ended up only reading these two books, haha. ( I also started Motley Crue's "The Dirt" but I haven't finished it yet)
I was satisfied with both, but not quite amazed by either--I didn't really expect to be though, tbh. I gave both of them a three star rating... I wrote a review for An Abundance of Katherines, but not for Vacations from Hell (mostly because I forgot).

An Abundance of Katherines was a very typical John Green novel, I've read a few of his now and they have a similar dynamic. Some lead male teenage boy character who was told he was special and smart and he wants to make a mark on the world, but doesn't have the means to. He gets attached to some unattainable girl and spends the whole book trying to rectify that, only to realize that that too is impossible. He usually has some sarcastic best friend who is always overly obsessed with getting girls, and giving the main character terrible girl advice, but somehow always ends up with a date.
Though this was written before Paper Towns, this felt like a PT rip off (in that, paper towns was way better, tbh). This was Green's second novel, I believe, so I can't really expect too much. But I just found the whole story to be completely unrealistic (I still can't believe he knew 18 Katherines..... like I don't even know two Katherines that have the same spelling. Completely ridiculous).

Vacations from Hell was a mixture of well known authors writing "scary" stories for a compilation. I will admit that the last story, written by Libba Bray, was actually a little scary. But the best were subpar at best lol. I don't even remember a couple of them. The first one was not scary at all, nor particularly good. I appreciate that they built up to the actually well written story at the end... but I feel like they should have perhaps staggered the stories--if I hadn't had motivation to read this book maybe I would have put it down after that first story, cuz it wasn't that great...

That was my experience this month. What did everyone else read??
Stay tuned for this month's theme. Sorry it's late!!

50x66 So the theme for this month is a bit personal. My sister's birthday is this month, so the theme is related to her:
Everyone should read a book either with the name Katherine in the title (my sister's name) OR something vampire/dark fantasy related (her favourite book is Vampire Academy)

I have two book choices this month, but obviously you do not need to read two books on these topics, nor do you have to choose the two I pick. Though you are welcome to do both.

My book choices for the month are "An Abundance of Katherines" by John Green An Abundance of Katherines; and "Vacations from Hell" by a compilation of authors including Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, and Maureen Johnson. Vacations from Hell
(I know, these are both older releases, lol)

I'm excited to hear about what others are reading.
