50 States and at Least 50 Authors

[close] 1. You need not read all 50 books in one year. This is not a competition. It is an attempt to find and introduce others to good authors/good books.
2. Many authors have lived in multiple places. IF you assign an author to one state, do not then use that same author for another state since the whole purpose is variety. For instance, IF you assign Mark Twain to Missouri, then don't also use him for Nevada, Connecticut, or New York. I have suggested assignments for many authors, however, you can easily argue for a different state for most.
3. When possible try to find a book that is set in the same state in which the author was born/lived. This is NOT always possible.
4. Challenge friends who love to read.
