Mitzi,You are most welcome! I am so looking forward to reading many of these titles to help me grow as a writer. And, the comments like yours coming back seem to indicate that there is plenty of shared interest in books tied to an author's family history.
If you have a moment, please ask friends to add their favorites of this type to the list. Thanks again for your note.

Hi Bernice, thanks for the reply! I am working on my own family history book, so I've been trying to read some that are already out there, to see what others have done. So this list was most timely! :)
Mitzi,Writing about my family has been an outstanding life journey for me. My best wishes that yours is also.

Hi Bernice, Thank you for creating this list. I have added Kate Grenville's 'The Secret River.' This is one of my favourite historical novels of all time and I found it really inspiring when I settled down to write my own novel based on our criminal ancestor.Best wishes

Bernice: Some of these titles are actually works of nonfiction. For example, Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang is about the author's grandmother, mother and herself living in China through the Cultural Revolution. Not a work of fiction at all. Did you want to expand the list to works of nonfiction based on a person's family or keep it to fiction strictly?
Rory M. wrote: "Bernice: Some of these titles are actually works of nonfiction. Your description of this book seems to place it in memoir or auto/biography. I really want to keep my list to FICTION, otherwise the purpose in creating it will be lost. I so appreciate your bringing this to my attention. What action do you recommend? As the list owner, can I delete them, and perhaps leave a note here about the titles removed and why? Would you mind also telling me which other titles are not fiction? BLR

I'm not certain how to delete from a listopia list - contact GR (go to HELP in the bottom right and see if they offer directions on doing so) - if that doesn't help you can email them. Expect it to take several days to get a response - they deal with many queries.
Good luck!
To delete your own vote for a book: click the "x" next to it on the list at the left, or the "remove" link on the main list.To remove a book with more than one vote you need a Librarian.
very good to know. I did send a note to the help desk. I am preparing for an appearance on Wed, so hopefully I can take action this weekend. thanks, Susanna.

I am a Librarian (but didn't know I had those privledges). I have removed Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China from the list since it is a memoir / nonfiction. Let me know if you need any help with the list maintenance moving forward now that I know how to delete titles from lists.
Thank you Susanna! I learned something new today!
