I was just looking over the previous books that we have read for Quarterly Reads. Just some trivia

8/12 of the books were written in the 1800's
3/12 were written in the 1900's
1/12 was written in 1605.

Of the 11 nominated for this quarter

1 was written in 1021, 1 in 1320, and 1 in 1748
2/11 were written in the 1800's
6/11 were written in the 1900's

Nice to see a few more earlier books! Great nominations. Thanks all.

Pink I agree, as much as I love 19th and 20th century literature, it's nice to have some variety with earlier books.

There are so few really old books that we can read, I'm excited to have some choices on older books this time around. A true classic classic has been around for a few centuries.

That is another nice thing about really old books, you can get them for free!

Hailee I was hoping Clarissa would win myself as that is a novel I've wanted to read for ages but I don't know if I could do it alone!

Looks like Moby-Dick; or, The Whale is going to the runaway winner this time around

message 9: by George P. (new)

George P. Moby Dick is available for Kindle and Kindle app for free. I happen to have a hardback copy I've had for several years, waiting for the inspiration to read it, which has now arrived thanks to this group! The Kindle is a lot easier to carry to work though.

Yes, it should be easy to get a copy to read in most any format.
