Hello, Mr Phleps, I am currently reading your two books on David Janssen. They are exceptional !! Such masterpieces! I wanted to know why photos of you and David were not contained in the books. Perhaps 1 photo for each book? Also, no mention about his biological father, Harold Meyer? Why? I know David was guarded when talking about his biological father. Did Harold Meyer attend David's funeral? Carol

Good Afternoon Carol,
Please forgive the delay in responding to you.
I only had about six photos of Dave and me together. On 31 July 1995, my house was heavily damaged by fire and all of my photo albums and family albums and keepsakes were destroyed. I had one, which I had sent to my mother years before, which became the cover for Volume Two. Thankfully, the Miami Fire Department saved my two German Shepherds! I had been called at my office by a neighbor and made the drive home in 20 minutes - normally a 30-40 minute drive. Dave's biological Father is mentioned in 'DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE', Ellie Janssen's Memoir I co-authored with her. Mr. Myer contacted Dave while Dave and Ellie were in Chicago for Dave's starring role in the Stage Play, Gazeebo in 1962. Dave and Ellie took him to dinner in their hotel. According to Ellie, Dave was cold and did
not wish to further re-establishing a relationship with him. Dave only spoke with me of his biological father, and to Dave, Eugene ("Gene") Janssen WAS HIS FATHER. He was devastated when his mother divorced Gene, and never forgave her. His father did not attend his funeral services. DANI took tight control over WHO could and could not attend his services. She attempted to deny Ellie and her daughter as well as his Mother Berneice from entering the Memorial, but his Agent and Friend ABBY GRESHLER intervened and they were admitted. Sadly, his services were held on Ellie's Birthday. Ellie NEVER stopped loving Dave. However, as strong as her love for him was, we had numerous disputes in writing her Memoir, markedly because she placed all blame on the failure of their marriage, when we both know it was HER insecurities and jealousy.
At present, I am in talks with Hollywood Screenwriters and Producers for
a BIOPIC of Dave's life for Cable Television. I hope to make a formal announcement in the coming months.
