For a start I love humour. I was born in Birmingham in the 1950's, just like Dennis, so I suppose that's where the inspiration came from. People have asked me if the character is based on me, obviously I like to think not, but like Dennis, I am very accident prone and every time I trip over something or accidentally break something, my wife has taken to calling me Dennis.
