Goodreads asked Martin D. Gibbs:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Martin D. Gibbs Learn to enjoy pain. Love suffering. Embrace emptiness and the constant feeling of vacancy within your withering soul.

Wait, those are the lyrics for the doom metal band I've never been in.

My advice is to read, read, read. Whenever you think you've got the perfect story, sit on it for a month or so, then re-read it. Read some more. Then write.

And avoid the blue Sour Patch Kids.
