Asiana Circus
Asiana Circus asked Gail Carriger:

Dear Mis Carriger, I love your books very much. I especially love (other than the steampunk style) that there are lots and lots of travel involved in many of your books. What do you think as a writer and as a creative person how travel and getting to know other cultures from first hand affected your art? Do you think it is important for artists to travel more?

Gail Carriger Yes travel. Travel as much as you possibly can. And I'm a big advocate of living in foriegn lands for longer than just a few days. I think it comes from being an Archaeologist. Unfortunately, not everyone has the advantage of being able to travel widely. But even if it's just getting out of the house and going for a walk, I think most writers benefit from being in motion.
