I was partly inspired by the book called The Sea of Tranquility and I was also very affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. I wouldn't call that inspiration though. I actually wrote a blog post called the story behind the story that talks about the way the story developed and the path to publishing it. I will link to it below so you can check it out.
