Goodreads asked Neil Canavan:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Neil Canavan The book idea grew out my my duties at my day job - scientific adviser of the Trout Group, an investor relations firm. My boss hired me because he realized that, as a medical journalist for 20 years I had working relationships with many top scientists/clinicians, and that I could get them to educate biotech investors on this new thing called cancer immunotherapy.

To that end, I started hosting small symposia, and each time an investigator spoke I had them draw me a cartoon of their technology. After a while I had about 40 of them (see my gallery picture).

One day, while I was admiring my collection my boss said to me, "You know these are illustrations for a book, right?"

And 2.5 years later, a book is born.
