Goodreads asked Tom Walsh:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tom Walsh The initial idea was sparked by an article I read in the paper about brothers being charged with the beating of the priest that had molested them in their youth. I had considered the idea of murder must have come into their minds. The premise expanded into the cover up of multiple crimes and how victims had dealt with their experiences. The overarching theme is about the presence of corruptible power within institutions that historically have been free from accountability. The two main characters (Molly & Damien) have their own history of drama that is interwoven throughout, but together they become a force to be reckoned with.
