Actually, being a writer is a tough road. I never believe anything I've done is quite good enough and the characters in whatever the story I happen to be writing at the time keep me distracted 24/7. Generally speaking, I've come to realise that people who aren't writers believe it would be cool to do this rather than the job they're employed in. Perhaps because many people are convinced that they have a great book in them and when they finally manage to put it down "on paper", it'll be a best seller. And, of course, then they will live like lords.

It'll be good to have Vin back, David. I read the opening chapter on your website and enjoyed it immensely. Couple of quick (tangential) questions though; why did you decide to go with a fictionalised version the current White House incumbent rather than the real thing and will we be seeing further installments of Field of Mars in the near future (because I very much enjoyed the first volumes)?
