Goodreads asked Peter Tolladay:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Peter Tolladay I had to cast my mind back a few years for the answer. To entice me off the computer, where I had been completing BLOOD AND HONOUR, my wife organised a trip into Wales. On a whim we crossed back into England and stopped off at Berkeley Castle.

Now, like most people, I knew about the deposition of Edward II, but as to where he had been imprisoned and supposedly murdered, I could not have told you without consulting Google. Anyway, I stood before a window that opened onto Edward of Caernarfon’s cell and realised that here was a story I wanted to tell; not about the deposed Edward but his son, Edward III.

For the life of me I could never recollect anyone having written a novel with the young king as the main character. THE BLOOD OF ARTHUR was conceived in that draughty hallway amongst the phantoms of the past.
