Goodreads asked Philip A. Loring:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Philip A. Loring Just do it, and start by calling yourself a writer. You don't have to be published to be a writer. Also, don't worry about if whatever you are working on right now is good enough. Don't think about your audience, at least not at first. Approach it like a habit, a routine. Write every day, even if only 50 words in a notepad. There is no secret knowledge associated with being a good writer, only empathy, artistry, and practice.

And read. Read as much as you have time to.
