Hi, Matt! I LOVED The Perfect Stranger. Have you read Henry James The Turn of the Screw? It’s really a novella, a quick read and so great. Anything by Shirley Jackson. If you’ve seen the movie but never read the book, The Shining is one of the scariest novels I’ve read. And our selection November, Leave the World Behind is also very unsettling, a total page-turner and beautifully written. xo

I loved your book - seems like not everyone got the humor. The characters were so well drawn I felt like I knew them (particularly Bea)... Having recently been through two executorships of trusts (my brother and my mom), and the resulting drama, I wonder if you've ever been through this kind of thing. Q: How often are you able to create a desired result for yourself by sheer force of will, or by arranging circumstances? Do you ever feel the reason you aren't far enough along is that you haven't pushed yourself hard enough, even though you've worked very hard? In your writing life or otherwise—is control all it's cracked up to be?
