I saw an ad on FB for your new book, "Apricots" and i am now following you on FB and GR. Historical Fiction is my favorite genre but i read a variety of F & NF books. What historical fiction writers have YOU enjoyed over the years? My living favorites are: Ken Follett & Philippa Gregory. Among my favorite dead authors: Norah Lofts, Anya Seton, and Margaret Frazer (convent mystery series, 15th cent. England).

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the question. Anya Seton was great, and I plowed through all of Jean Plaidy when I was younger. These days I count Emma Donoghue as my absolute favorite, and also love Margaret George and recently really enjoyed the Hilary Mantel trilogy and her earlier stuff. I haven't read any Margaret Frazer - I'll check her out.
Thanks,
Sally

During research for the Versailles trilogy, did you come across any English language biographies of Louis XV? I'm struggling to find anything in English outside Olivier Bernier's very dated one. I have several books that include him in the historiographic perspective, but none besides Bernier's that actually center on him. Thanks!

Sally... I'm asking this questions of several writers—some friends, some strangers. Q: How often are you able to create a desired result for yourself by sheer force of will, or by arranging circumstances? Do you ever feel the reason you aren't far enough along is that you haven't pushed yourself hard enough, even though you've worked very hard? In your writing life or otherwise—is control all it's cracked up to be?

Hi Sally. I entered your contest to win your book The Sisters of Versailles (The Mistresses of Versailles Trilogy #1) Giveaway dates: Sep 02 - Sep 15, 2015 and I was very lucky to win. However, today is Feb 02, 2016 and I still have not received your book. I am so eager to read it. Do you know when I can expect it?
