Goodreads asked A.K. Graves:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

A.K. Graves I used to paint. Way back when, before kiddos and day jobs, I would spend hours painting and getting lost in the worlds I created on canvas. As my focus changed, as I lost the drive to lay acrylics down, I back-burnered the creative mind because I wasn't sure where to put the energy anymore, and honestly, I was exhausted because parenting is hard lol. Over the years my love for reading grew and sort of replaced painting and gave me the same feelings I had when I would just sort of check out with my brushes, and one day I started writing. My husband was actually like, "You could totally write books like the ones you read. It'd be like when you used to paint." and he was exactly right. The best thing about being a writer is still having a creative outlet, one that gives me all the feels, allows me to express myself in ways I can't verbalize. The best thing about being a writer is the fact that it still makes me feel like an artist, a creative, a dreamer, and that is vital to me.
