Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Martin Baynton I've always found the Alice books stunning, extraordinary and a little frustrating. Alice passes through a landscape of incredible characters, but there is no central narrative thread. So the conceit for this series is that the two Alice books are cyphers, books of code about a real place, codes hidden in plain sight in the form of an innocent children's story.
