I love this question! "A mystery from my own life as a plot for a book"...for me mystery is about the secret inner life all people carry: hopes, dreams, despair, disaster, triumphs, all these accumulate in ways that no one except those closet to us can understand and even then, only partially. I've come to think that many of us carry "secret sorrows" and I've plumbed my own depths for these and embedded them "behind the scenes" of the poetry in my book.
