The characters in the Olivia Penn series seem so real - Are they based on people you know?

Hi Laura!
Thanks for such a great question! Although none of the characters are based on a particular “real” person, they are often a combination of people I’ve come across along the way. Before writing, I take a lot of time to flesh out my characters so that I know them quite well. I have a sense of what they look like, how they speak, what their mannerisms are etc… I know much more about them than ends up in the books. In this way, the characters seem very “real” to me, too, and when I’m writing, I hope to bring a sense of this to the story. So, when you say the characters seem very real to you, that is music to my ears! I hope as you read Olivia’s adventures that you feel that you’re right there with her, helping to solve the mystery.
