Goodreads asked Kat Heckenbach:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Kat Heckenbach As someone who is both an author and artist, one way I deal with writer's block is to switch my creative focus. I work on my art for a while until the writing begins to call to me again. If, however, I am on deadline or I am feeling the need to write but don't know where to take the story, I work on it in a different way. Maybe change what scene I'm tackling, or write out my ideas in a notebook (good old-fashioned brainstorming). Sometimes I've just been so frustrated, I start venting in an email to a fellow author/friend/critique partner, explaining what I can't figure out, and in the process the answer to the next move will emerge.
