I stop writing one story and start writing another. It's not uncommon for me to have 6 WIP projects. True block is different to the time you should take out to read what you've written and process it ... when I seriously have nothing in my head I just go to the beach or cycle, read a book or watch a movie, hook up with friends ... I'm amazed at how often the block gets unblocked by talking to the friend who cuts my hair
