Spend more time learning to write well than learning how to publish. I followed advice given to me: read 100 books of your genre. Take classes from a variety of teachers. Write your 1,000 hours. Find people who will give you honest feedback. Leave critics who don't inspire you to keep writing. Be willing to grow a hard shell.
