Goodreads asked Annalise VanGallows:

How do you get inspired to write?

Annalise VanGallows I wish I had a simple answer—like, “I light a candle and sip tea while waiting for the muse.” But the truth is? Most of my stories start with a feeling, a dream or an experience I can’t shake. A moment I need to unravel. Changing the course. A lie someone told, or a truth someone couldn’t speak. Sometimes I’m haunted by a single sentence or a scene, and the only way to make peace with it is to write my way through.

Inspiration, for me, isn’t a lightning bolt. It’s a slow burn. A question that won’t leave me alone until I turn it into a story.
