Taylor asked Becky Dean:

What's your advice to young writers who have an idea and an outline but don't know how to start their book?

Becky Dean It might sound silly, but just start! Books are truly made good in the editing and the revising process, but you can't edit what you haven't written. You might write chapters that end up being practice, or just for you to learn about the world or characters. Just start writing where you think the story begins, or even start writing about your main character. You can always change the opening later, or add to it, or delete that and write something new. But get into the story however you can. You might also try picking a scene later in the book that you see clearly in your head or one that you're excited about and sounds fun, and write that to start. Or plop your main character into a situation and start there and see what happens. Don't worry if it's not good or you aren't sure you like it - just write and then worry about fixing it later!
