Kat Green
Kat Green asked Matthew Stokoe:

Is there any artistic reason for why a Guernsey cow in Cows was chosen as the main bovine?

Matthew Stokoe Hi Kat, Well, I like the sound of the word. Also, Guernsey is one of the Channel Islands and I have a bit of a connection to another of these islands through family (evacuated a day before the Nazis invaded). And lastly, Guernseys are gentle, beautiful cows and I thought the juxtaposition of this with the conflict the Guernsey drove in the book would add some dimensionality/complexity to the character. I hope that answers your question. Do let me know if you need more info. Cheers, Matthew.
