Hi Ms. Levine! I love your books soooooo much, but my favorite by far is Ella Enchanted! I honestly read it once a month! I really want to be a writer and I love fractured fairytales, so I'd like to write those. How do you write yours to stay true to the original story but be engaging throughout the whole book?

Hi, Mary Margaret! I'm delighted you enjoy my books. I'm not always faithful to the original fairy tale, and you don't need to be either. I suggest reading many fairy tales in early versions. Andrew Lang's fairy tale collections, like The Blue Fairy Tale book, are excellent. Then think about a few stories that appeal to you and how you might make one your own.

I met Ella Enchanted in 7th grade and wore the book out to the point it fell apart, When I was old enough I bought it for myself, and I read it every few years, just as fresh and just as fun every time I read it. Do you think you will ever write another fairy tale more like that?
